I was in a band over ten years ago, and “played guitar,” but I have never actually owned a guitar, until today.
We were wandering around in downtown Midland, Michigan trying to find something to do. It’s not easy here. We had already hit the mall and bought Brian a nice new suitcase since the one he brought wasn’t that great and belonged to his sister anyway.
We ran into Brian’s cousin at Best Buy, where he works. I ended up getting myself a 512MB portable flash memory fob, so that I can now transport my “book” in my pocket instead of constantly emailing files back and forth.
HD television is sort of uncomfortably crisp. It’s going to become less okay than ever to have non-perfect skin.
We went downtown and visited some random cafe. (That reminds me, on our way here yesterday afternoon we stopped in Kalamazoo and I got to visit the cafe there that I love: Rocket Star.) After downing a small mocha, we started walking back to the car and decided to check out the music shop on the main street.
Brian and I have been discussing getting acoustic guitars for a few weeks. I figured we would just have a look at the 3/4 models as I am very wee and that size is perfect for me. I used to have a 3/4 bass guitar, too.
The shop had this one 3/4-sized guitar that was painted a lovely shade of Tiffany blue, with white trim. It was only $80. And they will ship it home for me. So we got it. Brian got a normal-sized guitar. He actually knows how to play. I have forgotten everything. I think I used to know how to play “Caterpillar” by Unwound or something. Yeah.
I should mention that I have no aspirations to start a band or even to be a songwriter or performer. I just want to learn for my own pleasure. And it’s a lot easier and cheaper than the piano.
i “played guitar” in a “college band” too; mostly we drank a lot and talked about what we’d do when we was famous. i’ve since taken up the drums which i would love to pursue. i’d love a blue sparkly kit.
You must’ve stopped at Espresso Milano, that place is awesome 🙂 MidMichigan Music has some great stuff. Gratz on the guitar!!
as I recall, you guys have an amp…
omg. I’m so glad you went to Rocket Star. I’ve only been there a couple times, but I like it a whole lot. It’s one of the better places in Kalamazoo.
I made sure that we stopped there on the way to Midland, and on the way back, too. I took a bunch of photos of it too, I will upload them tonight.
Goooooood coffee.
