I love getting the extra hour back, but it still messes with my mind.
Yesterday we went up to Sacto for a wedding. Bruce is one of Brian’s friends from high school who now lives here (he has a surprising number of friends from Midland who now live in the Bay Area). He met Felicia through online dating, which is also how Brian and I met, of course, for those of you who didn’t know. In fact I remember when we first met Felicia, a couple years ago, at this show at Cafe du Nord in SF. Bruce had just started seeing her. It was so cute when they told us how they met.
So yesterday, they were married, and it was beautiful. The wedding was lovely, and we could tell that Felicia worked incredibly hard on all the details. I was so impressed. The ceremony itself was a Buddhist Japanese ceremony, as Felicia is Japanese-American. She skipped looking through bridal magazines for a gown and wore a gorgeous formal white kimono with a huge, beautiful obi that tied in a large knot in the center of her back. It was really amazing. It was a perfect autumn day.
After the ceremony, which was just the right length, the bride changed into a chic brown evening gown. Another plus to wearing traditional dress for the ceremony!
The reception was wonderful, the food was delicious, and I had two glasses of pinot grigio. The wedding took place at a large house with a garden. Each room had a different function: one for dancing, one for the slideshow, one for the kids. There were lots of kids at the wedding, too.
We were at table F, with all of our pals.
After the reception, we chilled out at Pablo & Lisa’s hotel for a while. Then we drove across town to Felicia’s parents large house, where there was yet another big party and meal. Everyone had changed into casual clothes, so I was glad to have brought my jeans along. We stayed there for awhile, eating and chatting as it got dark, and then we said our goodbyes and drove back to the city again.
