So today I went to see my dermatologist (same one as yours, Olivia/Ert/Kuda). He’s awesome. I haven’t been to see him in a year and a half. He helped make my skin perfect for my wedding day, you know. Anyway, I figured I should have a check-in, and also get something to help clear out the congested pores on my forehead.
He recommended a couple topical things for my skin, gave me samples (yay), and then we did the skin check. Basically he wanted to look at all of my moles and freckles and make sure everything was cool. For the most part it was, but he was concerned about one mole on my back. He told me it was irregular in shape and in color, and that he strongly advised that I have it removed.
I was squeamish at first, having never done this before, but he assured me it only took two minutes and would not hurt once the area was numbed. Of course, seeing as how he is the best derma doc ever, he was right. The needle to inject the anasthetic barely pinched, and then he cut the mole right off. I didn’t feel a thing. He showed it to me after (it’s being sent out to be biopsied) and it did look kind of weird, almost star-shaped? Anyway it’s gone now. He said that since the mole was smooth and flat, it was probably fine, and if it was a danger, it was caught very early. Yay!
After that we did the usual paste/light treatment, which is just a little clear skin pick me up that I like to do once a year. And then I was on my way.
I would really like Brian to see my dermatologist. He is like the perfect candidate for skin problems and he never even wears moisturizer, much less sunscreen. Sometimes it really worries me. He has that typical tough guy thing where he refuses to be preventative about medical issues, won’t see a doctor or a dentist until there is actual pain, and so on. I don’t get it, but there’s nothing I can really do to change it. Bleh.
Anyway. Hey! We are having another week of sunny weather! So maybe Indian summer is sticking around after all.
i need to make an appt! tell me more about the light treatment…..
I got it three days before my wedding, and it cleared me up so nicely that I don’t even think I wore makeup that day (except eye makeup and blush).
He just takes this paste substance (it’s brown) and smears it on your face, leaves it for a minute, then the nurse wipes it all off, and then shines this special light (maybe a blacklight? not sure) on your face for 30 seconds. A couple days later, anything you had going on zit-wise has magically disappeared! I think it’s like $50 or something, but hey, that costs less than a facial, and takes WAY less time. Totally ask him to do it before your wedding day!
