I am listening to really really old Green Day. I stopped buying their music after “Dookie.” Even though I know it probably got better, but I will always remember them as stupid kids who did NOT wear eyeliner, so there ya go.
Used up some more free eMusic downloads to get Unwound’s “A Single History,” (I no longer own a turntable to play their seven inches on), “Leaves Turn Inside You,” and another Mountain Goats record.
Today I thought about how when I get a new record and I really like it, I have this way of devouring it over and over every single day until it kind of becomes a part of me. I won’t just listen to it once, then come back to it a week later or something. I am consumed with memorizing the fucker. This happened with “Nevermind”, btw. Freshman year of college. That CD was blasted from my dorm room about five times a day until it was burned into my brain. That way, fifteen years later when I am riding to work in the car with my husband on a cold Halloween morning and “Drain You” starts playing on the satellite radio, I still know all the words. And all the sounds.

Sam HATES when I do that. HATES.
