I wore my glasses today. I am totally sexy librarian with fire engine red fingernails.
Really gotta get back to work though.
P.S.: Oh and there is no getting around the fact that round-trip tickets to Juneau will cost about $600 apiece. But there is also no getting around the fact that I absolutely must go this spring. Sigh.
Why Juneau?
Seeing friends? Seeing family? Seeing the glaciers before they’re gone?
Re: Why Juneau?
Part of the novel I am writing is set there. If I want it to feel honest, I have to be able to accurately describe everything about it, the way it looks, sounds, and smells, etc. Research can only take me so far.
Re: Why Juneau?
Ah, heinous. “Book research” was guess #4 but I couldn’t think of a way to make the verbs sound right together.
One of my favorite books is set partly in Juneau: “No Night is too Long” by Barbara Vine.
To research my book properly I need to go to Kazakhstan.
Re: Why Juneau?
Wow. I wish I had your dedication. I think I should probably go to some WEight Watchers meetings for my thesis but I’m so lazy.
I’m jealous about you going to Alaska. Have you gone before?
Re: Why Juneau?
Nope. I’ve barely even been to Canada. I don’t think one afternoon in Vancouver on a school trip counts.
Claire you could go to those meetings. Though I guess you’d have to pay though.
I am actually getting pretty stoked for Alaska, and not just for the book. It would be cool to see a glacier up close and experience an alien climate.
I was similarly excited to see the desert for the first time.
