Made the decision last week not to go out for Valentine’s Day dinner. It’s a bit overwrought and cliched, not to mention the ridiculous prix fixe dinners, the traffic, the “expectations” or whatever. It was fun to take part in the spectacle when we started dating. In fact I recall our first Valentine’s Day, we had been together for just over two months and had reservations at Zuni. An hour before dinner, a whole section of Market St lost power, including Zuni. I can’t imagine the money they must have lost that night — they had the cancel every table. Brian and I walked all the way to the market near Dolores Park and bought something to cook back at my place. It was fun, and remedied the initial disappointment.
Anyway, we’ll be staying in next Wednesday, cooking and snogging, I imagine.
BUT! the weekend beforehand we will be traveling up to Lakeport to spend a couple nights at my friend Karen’s inn. We have been meaning to visit her ever since she moved away. I can’t wait. Jacuzzi for two! Ahhh. Plus, if the weather cooperates, going to wineries and stuff, too.
Today’s weather is excellent; I’m taking my iPod for a walk now.
good times, good times.
So there is another bnb in town and they do a formal english tea. While you are here, there is a V.D. tea scheduled. Care to go? You and Brian, you and me or all 4 of us…but if so, let me know and I’ll make the resos.
Let’s all go! That sounds unique and fun.
I’m pretty much open to whatever the area has to offer. Is there a place we can have a romantical dinner Friday or Saturday evening? We are taking that Friday off work so we can drive up around midday.

there is also this place

The former is our favorite around here, the latter was a little pricey for me. I have been wanting to try it since the new management…
I am about to try a new place tonight and I will let you know. It’s in a resort on the lake. The resort isn’t much, and the restaurant doesn’t look like much either but the menu is ambitious.
I’l report back!
Brian and I think the first one would be great, esp since they have barbecue, mmm. Do they have nice ambience? I wonder if it’s too early to make a reservation….
Ambience is good there, but it’s even better during the summer when you can sit outside.
Results are in for the new restaurant and it’s FABULOUS. By far the best food I have had in the county. No website, and it’s even hard to get a phone number. It’s also pretty expensive and not the *best* interior. Still cute and I highly recommend it. No bbq, I had scallops with mushrooms and Sam had short ribs. They hand make the pasta, too….
Well, we will be there two nights, so we could always try both…
MMM scallops!
