Had my teeth cleaned today. It went well as usual, and my dentist told me that I “made my mother proud.” (My mom is a dental hygienist.) Healthy gums, good bones, etc. I enquired about straightening my front two teeth, and was told that four brackets (or braces) would cost around $5000. Hahahahahahahaha!!! I guess I will stay dorky, thank you. Let’s see, straight tooth, or six months of rent? Hmmm….
In a way that is meaningful and symbolic to me only, the Seattle Mariners will play the San Francisco Giants tonight in an exhibition game right here in the city. WHO WILL WIN MY HEART???
It’s kind of a slow and blurry day aside from all that. I didn’t have too much work to do. It should be Friday.
I have been meaning to start cooking more interesting and creative meals for dinner. I don’t know what it is with my dining rut. Laziness? Probably. I want some yummy low-fat vegetarian recipes. Post or link them in my comments if you have any. No eggplant or garlic, please.
Weird! I went to the dentist today too. She told me I looked like a train wreck, and that I needed to cut down on the cigarettes, and ‘contemplate some major lifestyle changes’. Like I needed to be told any of that!
I hate when I get lectured by my hygienist. I used to have one who would tell me if I didn’t floss, I would get gum disease and die.
Seeeriously!!! I floss, maybe three times a week because I have those little disposable thingers that make it really easy. Otherwise, I’m usually rushin’ and only brush twice a day.. for which I shall rot in whatever circle of hell is dedicated to poor dental hygiene.
But get gum disease and DIE?!
By the way, I’m working on a 100% true chapbook outlining some of the more odd, or idealistic moments of my life. I’ll have to link you to a PDF when it’s done. Might be good fodder for you to extrapolate on for your book.
Yeah because the gum infection could spread to your blood and travel to your HEART!!!!
*eyeroll*
I’d like to see your chapbook.
My novel won’t be done for a loooong time.
“vegan with a vengance” is the best meatless cookbok out right now, even if you are not interested in veganism.
I have been in a cooking slump, too, because the produce here is still just awful or non-existant. I tend to be an ingredient-based cook. I get depressed thinking about how those plastic-wrapped zucchinis in trader joe’s were shipped here from costa rica. The big farmer’s market opens in a month, I can’t wait!

5K?!?!?!? I think that I did my whole mouth for 3K. I mean, that was five years ago, but still!
It could definitely also be a “San Francisco is ridiculously unaffordable in almost every way” thing, too.
I agree, its probably a SF thing. $$$ When you come to Seattle, I know there won’t be that kind of cost, and besides, you might be eligible for Invisaline, since they were straight at one time, and have just slipped. Have heart. Love, Mom
