I have been way busy, day and night, too busy to blog! My office at home isn’t really unpacked at all yet. At work, I have been working on a few big projects and haven’t had time to screw around. But today is slow, so here I am.
So this morning I took a later ferry. As I was rushed to catch my bus, Brian driving me there like the awesome man he is, I spilled my coffee all over my shirt. I then missed the bus, but Brian caught up to it at the next stop and I scurried aboard.
I pretty much hate all my clothes lately, so I was more than happy to have stained my tshirt and thus been forced to stop by Nordstrom on the way in to work to get a cute new top. I found something pretty quickly — a Michael Kors cap-sleeved babydoll style shirt in cotton jersey, with a cute brown and white zebra print. I kid you not, it’s really cute. I am not usually into animal prints, but this one works.
I walked the rest of the way to work, still wearing my coffee-splashed, sweaty t-shirt. Ew. Stopped at Uptown for a coffee and the baristo gave me a free piece of cranberry coffee cake. Which granted, wasn’t all that good, so even better that it was gratis.
I changed into my new top once I got to the office, then got to work on the last little things of this relaunch I’ve been working on. The Times has a whole Martin Luther King Jr. minisite which hasn’t been redesigned or touched for literally years, and I’ve been bringing the look and feel up to the present. The last thing I wanted to do was to find better, crisper images for the photo gallery since the scans of the archival photographs appear to be from the infancy of digital media.
SO I haven’t had lunch yet, but I’m done with that. Producers in the next cube are watching basketball. Work is pretty quiet today.
One thing I wanted to mention: Yesterday I walked a mile up a brutal hill just to visit Peet’s on Broadway and buy a small cup of coffee. There are only five Peet’s stores in WA — when I worked in SF there were five within walking distance of work. I do miss Peet’s.
House update: dining room furniture has arrived and is assembled. It’s perfect. Loveseat and chair will be delivered Tuesday. Need to have the living room cleared out by then, it’s really the only super messy room left if you don’t count the garage, which is filled with stacks of cardboard. It’s all slowly coming together.
Other: Freelance web project I’ve been working on since the new year is ready to launch on time on Sunday or Monday. Yay!! The money will be going directly to the Visa bill to pay for the dining set… so now every time I sit at our dining table I’ll think of the web site I built that paid for it.
