Today we went to Seattle with our two pals from Chicago. We rode the bus to Greenwood to check out the Seattle 826 store; Mark wanted to see it. He volunteers at the one in Chicago. I picked up a rad t-shirt. After that we had lunch at Olive You. Their hummus was spectacular and garlicky, but the service was kinda slow for a place that wasn’t even half full.
On the way back to the ferry we stopped at a used bookstore on 1st and Spring. I picked up a copy of “Out of Africa” and “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.” The cashier, who was strikingly beautiful, told me she really loved my hair. I get a bit flustered when anyone gives me a compliment. I always wonder if I should say something nice in return, and often do, but all I could think of for her was that I liked her lipstick, and I thought that would sounds weird? Ah well.
I missed our doggie all day and when we got home I took her for a walk while the boys went to spend far too much money on King salmon. Later I made rice, steamed asparagus, and a green salad, and the salmon was perfectly grilled in foil parcels with lemon slices and fresh garden rosemary. We ate out on the back deck and finished a bottle of white wine.
I am sleepy now. Everyone else is staying up late watching TV but I am going off to bed.
I am about to finish a glass of wine and sleep, I will up at four, I am glad for your lovely day!
this sounds like a pretty perfect day! the book you picked up is my favorite sedaris book although my absolute favorite story of his was in me talk pretty someday i think about taking french and talking about easter.
sadly, king salmon is expensive in alaska also but luckily you get to know people who will hook you up. our friend is from ketchikan & heading up there in a few days for three weeks. he’ll be bringing tons of stuff back & everyone is so excited for him to share! haha 🙂
