So I have this box of out-of-print punk rock 45s, all from the 1990s, mostly Bay Area and Pacific NW bands. They are all in plastic sleeves and in pretty much perfect condition. This morning I was thinking I’d like to display them somehow, maybe on one wall in my office, but I don’t want to use frames or anything. Not sure what to do…
Maybe this week I’ll pull them out and count/catalogue them. I have some pretty good ones, like the Nirvana/Jesus Lizard split, Slant-6 “What Kind of Monster Are You?” 7″, and Unwound’s first 7″, “Caterpillar.”
I need to find me a turntable.
You can get little wall racks that are swell for displaying LPs and 45s. I use them for comics.
link?
Oh, I dunno if there’s a specific link — you can get ’em at any hardware store. They’re just generic little wall racks.
ok thanks, I’ll check that out!
I still like Slant 6. They were one of the only female bands that I didn’t eventually get tired of.
I’ve been spinning the FUCK outta that Jesus Lizard / Nirvana split recently. I still remember the day I bought it. I had to be about 14. Soooo good.
There’s a Milwaukee band called “Pigs on Ice“, who 3/4 members are under legal drinking age, and cite JLiz as one of their main influences. they’re really, actually, good. Not to mention, it’s pretty cool and refreshing to hear music like that coming from people that young. Makes me feel like there might be light at the end of this dark (tight pants/eyeshadow/ asymmetrical haircuts) tunnel modern rock has been in for the last 6+ years.
