This weekend was all about the rubber boots I bought on Friday. I wore them both days while doing assloads of yard work. I personally filled the wheelbarrow five times with leaves and weeds and pruned plants, Brian added more today. I cleared out three big sections of the garden, raked a zillion leaves, pruned back roses, peonies, and hydrangeas, and then finally planted a whole lot of tulips bulbs (using our very own black compost!!). There are more to plant in the next couple weeks. The rubber boots came in so very handy.
Also, I still take deep satisfaction from the Dyson, and used it yesterday and today to vacuum the rugs and furniture. There’s still an unholy ball of black dog hair and pine needles in there.
Yesterday we took Kona to the dog park, today we walked her downtown and back (3 miles total).
Enough exercise that I have been sore all day — last night my right arm was tired from all the weeding I did in the morning.
Auntie Flo is due tomorrow, I am thinking of pre-emptively popping ibuprofen; if you take 600mg before the onset of cramps, they are diminished greatly.
I wish I was skinnier. Especially below the waist. Chubby looks awful on my short legs. I need a good method of curbing my sweet tooth. My meals are always healthy, it’s just the snacks not so much.
Anyway, I uploaded some pics today.
Sometimes she bumps the strings with her nose and they make a sound, then she looks at me as if to say, what was that???
very old pic from SF

Kona is really lovely. What a wonderful expression and beautiful face.
Do you keep the prong collar on her full time?
Thank you… yeah she is a pretty princess and she never tires of the compliments 🙂
We do keep it on her, she is still learning. In fact I am finally getting her into an obedience class starting at the end of this month.
What’s a good adult collar for when she has learned not to constantly pull at the leash and otherwise act the fool?
In general, I only put a prong collar on when I am going to specifically use it. I don’t think of it as an everyday collar, just a collar for walks. Partly b/c a prong collar at training tightness really would be too tight for full-time wearing. I don’t think it’s good for the hair or skin to be on full time.
Also, it’s not a good collar to put tags onto. And dog tags really are one of the best ways to get her home quickly if she ever gets loose. I really like the rolled leather collars for the GSD coats–it doesn’t break as much hair and it lies easily on the neck.
